CAD Training x Milestones
The CAD Training / 3D Printing course offered by Milestones in partnership with ASME is a five week course. Each week consists of a 2 hour lecture, in class demos, and homework. The class is offered twice a semester and is offered in person and virtually. CAD is an essential skill for any engineer to know and is a highly sought-after skill from companies. Come learn the skills you need to succeed and get certified while doing it! We reserve spots for ASME members and they fill up quick so make sure to reach out ASAP if you're interested!
Course Schedule
Week 1
The first week focuses on the idea of what is CAD and why is it important. We will look at the history of CAD and then the basics starting with downloading Fusion360, sketching, and extruding.
Week 2
In week two, this course explores the variety of tools available in CAD softwares such as constraints, construction geometry, offset planes, patterns, loft, fillet, chamfer, and shell.
Week 3
After learning about the basics, this course focuses on creating assemblies and learning about form and canvas.
Week 4
The culmination is the final project where the students create their own design, learn about rendering and go through the process of 3D Printing slicing.
Week 5
In the final week, the course focuses on 3D printing, learning about 3D printing settings and setting up a 3D Printer. It ends with a printing demo from the staff.
